Synopsis
Realm of Shadows is a modern day take on Greek mythology, particularly the story of Hades and Persephone. Set in southern California, it follows the lives of main character Alysander (Ally), her sister Ambrosia (Amber), their mother, and Ally’s best friend, Hayden. While struggling with not feeling like she fits in anywhere, especially next to her perfect sister, Amber, Ally uncovers a dark family secret about her absent father. As she struggles to determine if her mother’s ramblings are a sign of mental illness or denial, her best friend starts to pull away. Her life feels like it’s crumbling but what’s about to happen she will never guess.

This bitch! Rektok Ross has a shelf of hearts somewhere in her life, I just know it! How do I know it? Because she absolutely ripped mine out with Realm of Shadows! Judging by her writing, she’s not one to just throw the hearts away. I know she’s keeping them somewhere. Starting out with top-notch names like Alysander and Ambrosia, I knew this was going to be a gem. I didn’t, however, know it was going to make me laugh, make me mad, make me cry, and break my heart. Did I know going in that it was book 1 in a series? Yes. Was I still surprised that I was left on a cliffhanger? Also yes. Now I’m sitting here, nearly 11 o’clock at night, wondering how long I will have to wait for book 2. What’s going to happen between Ally and Hayes? And Amber? Puh-lease *insert eye-roll here* That bitch better not win! REKTOK ROSS I. NEED. MORE. Like, yesterday! (pleading eyes as sweet as Argy’s when he’s just being a precious boy and not whatever you’ll end up telling us he is in book 2)
