Narrator Spotlight – 🎙️James Cassidy 🎙️

Alright, everyone, we’re starting something new! We’re going to start spotlighting some of our favorite narrators, who don’t just read us stories, but help bring them to life with their amazing voices and skills. 🖤 We plan to eventually start an author spotlight as well, to shine light on the amazing and talented folks whose stories we’ve just loved.

For these spotlight posts, we plan to alternate between male and female narrators, ideally. We want to spread the love and appreciate equally. 😊 We’ll discuss the first time we remember hearing them narrate a book, our favorite book they’ve narrated, any pseudonyms they use (if they’re already well known), and maybe some interesting facts about them if we’re lucky enough to find some!

Alright, who’s ready? Drum roll, please! 🥁 For this first post, we’re going with……JAMES CASSIDY!

(Which I know wasn’t actually a surprise because his name was literally in the title of the post, but whatever)

Why did you choose this narrator?

The better question is why would I NOT choose this one? He’s my favorite (as I’ve made clear many times in my book review posts, as well as the Q&A posts). And you’ve not even seen all the posts in which his name will appear in the future.

When this idea came to me, I knew Mr. Cassidy had to be the very first person I got to rave about. Not only because he’s my favorite, but also because I’ve already looked him up plenty and had some interesting facts ready to go. 😅 It’s not weird, it’s…appreciation of him as a person.

Does this narrator have any well-known pseudonyms they also work under?

Okay, listen. You may not think this matters but it does. Think about it like this – if you love a narrator, then find out they’ve also been narrating under another name, do you realize how many more books you can now listen to them narrate? So yeah, I have fun trying to figure out narrators’ pseudonyms and getting to explore the various works they’ve helped create under both/all their names.

Anyway. I did actually figure out James’s real name a few months back, after some fun digging. I was able to verify my findings once I listened to some interviews and books under his legal name, but since it’s not a well-known fact yet, I’m not going to put it here. Because that’s not my business to tell. 🤷🏻‍♀️

What was the first book you heard this person narrate?

Anathema. James Cassidy was Zevander and I have a whole post where I reviewed Keri Lake’s book, as well as the fantastic narrators. James works alongside the talented Melissa Barr – this link will take you right to that review!

What was your favorite book this person has narrated?

What a difficult question. I just listened to Eldritch, Keri Lake’s second book in The Eating Woods series, and I might have to pick that one. I mean, he voiced so many different male characters with various accents. He flipped back and forth flawlessly and really brought all the characters to life with such uniqueness. It’s wild that all those characters were voiced by just one person.

But also, I recently listened to The Bloke and he had an Australian accent, so that was pretty wonderful for my ears.

I’ll have to pull Ronni in and ask her as well because fun fact – sometimes when I drink, I gift Ronni audiobooks narrated by James because my drunk self doesn’t mind spending money and I need my bestie to enjoy James as much as I do.

So Ronni…what’s been your favorite James Cassidy book so far?

Ronni: I would have to say Game On so far, but I haven’t heard a bad one

Some of the books he’s narrated that I’ve had the pleasure of listening to:

Do you know any interesting facts about this narrator?

I mean, I can only really know what he’s shared via social media, BUT yes. I have found some delightful and interesting facts. Or, at least, interesting to me.

  1. The man is TALL. I mean, like 6’6″ tall
  2. He and his wife are animal lovers – In one interview, he said they fostered and adopted some cats. Recent posts also let us know that he has at least one adorable puppy. 🖤
  3. He rooted for the Seattle Seahawks during the Super Bowl
  4. He graduated from Brown University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Modern European history with a focus on colonialism, but decided he wanted to be an actor instead.
  5. He likes talking about taxes. No, really! In one interview, he got excited when someone asked him a tax-related question.

I hope you had as much fun reading this as I did writing it! And if not, I guess don’t read the next spotlight post. 🤷🏻‍♀️

If you have a favorite book James Cassidy narrated, a book you’re looking forward to, a fun story of you meeting him in person, etc. – feel free to drop a comment and let us know! Let’s create some traffic and give some additional attention to our much appreciated narrators. 🖤
