Our next joint review is a favorite of ours! Both of us have listened to this audiobook several times and we just adore it. 🖤 The writing is wonderful, the characters are a blast, and the narration is so well done. Such a fun piece of fiction that everyone should really listen to!
This story follows the MMC, Josh, and FMC, Aly, as they navigate a very interesting relationship. Aly is an ER nurse who enjoys thirst traps about masked men. Specifically ONE masked man – the Faceless Man.
Josh is a hacker with some past family trauma and an interesting alter ego. Can you guess the alter ego? Yes! He is in fact the Faceless Man who creates fun content for thirsty woman to enjoy, but who always wears his custom mask to keep his identity a secret.
So Aly was bed-buddies with Josh’s roommate, Tyler, but they hadn’t connected in months. Aly’s schedule is crazy, after all. One day, she reaches out with a screenshot of the Faceless Man and asks if Tyler would be interested/ willing to do something similar. Well, he’s into someone else at this point after not hearing from Aly for months, so he shows Josh the text. His roommate who just happens to be super into Aly.
This starts the whirlwind and slightly unhinged romance between the two. They endure some interesting situations and it’s a blast to see how they interact with each other.

I still remember the first time I was introduced to this book. Shayna and I were on a work trip, and she had been talking about it. While we were in the car, avoiding responsibility after lunch, she played a snippet of the audiobook to show me how hilarious it is! It was the Batman scene 😂
I was HOOKED! This story has everything I was looking for and more! There is crime, murder, romance, comedy, and cats. Honestly, what more do you even need?? Josh and Aly’s relationship might be my favorite one and I love the way he transforms after realizing it’s okay for him to love someone. Plus, as Shayna says, Elena and Jacob have amazing talents and just brought so much life to this story! I have listened to it more than once, purchased a paperback copy, and will continue to enjoy this one for years. It’s definitely in my top 5 favorites ever!

I freakin’ LOVE this book. Some moments are so funny that I can’t help by chuckle to myself. Some of my favorites include “L.O.L., you motherfucker?” (IYKYK) and when Josh talks to Fred in his Batman voice. Those just kill me. 😂 But even aside from the funny moments, the plot is wonderful. It’s fun, fast-paced, interesting, and unique. I enjoyed seeing how things progressed between the two weirdos and loved every minute of their story!
It also helps that apparently Navessa Allen is a goddess and can write magic. Plus, the narrators? Elena Wolfe and Jacob Morgan were phenomenal and totally brought these characters to life. Absolutely wonderful – all of it. We’ll continue to re-listen to this wonderful story over and over because it’s pure perfection every time. Romance, comedy, some unhinged and morally grey characters – all of it is just so enjoyable. 🖤
