Summary & Review
If you’ve ever read a Lana Ferguson book then you pretty much know what to expect. Fun banter, interesting characters, cute romance, and usually some omegaverse/ paranormal aspects (though not always). Oh, and spice. Always spice, though some books are way spicier than others.
But every single one of her books has been fun to read and this one was no different. Though this is the first one I’ve done a review on, I’m currently up-to-date and have read all of her available books! 😊
In this story, Tess, a human contractor who just found out she’s actually a late-presenting omega wolf shifter, has a huge job she’s expected to start and she refuses to let this change get in her way. With medications and awareness, she could avoid any catastrophic incidents. As long as she stays far away from any alphas, that is. But surely that’s not a problem since they’re super rare.
Enter Hunter, the grumpy alpha whose lodge she’s been hired to renovate. Of course, she doesn’t know that he’s an alpha at first. This entire shifter/ omega/ alpha life is totally new to her and she has absolutely no idea what to expect.
Being near the alpha throws her body into heat cycles. Thankfully he’s a good guy and won’t take advantage of her. Though he IS willing to help out, once she makes the conscious decision outside of one of her cycles. And this is where things start getting steamy. 🌶️
The story is actually super cute and I really enjoy the interaction between characters. Ferguson always does a wonderful job creating her characters and plots. I’ve never been bored or DNF’d one of her books because they’re just such fun, light reads – perfect for lovers of RomComs, which I happen to be!
If you get a chance to read The Mating Game, you should go for it. It’s a good time. 🖤
