Summary & Review

After reading Definitely Not, by Rae Knight, I was really excited to be given the chance to read another one of her ARCs! I love Knight’s writing style and the characters she creates.

Sunshine and Razor Wire started off strong. I loved the chemistry and friendship between Zae and Cass. It was well done and easy to see how they just fit so well together. The characters also had great dialogue and banter that was a blast to read!

I did start to feel like the story became extremely repetitive. Some of the dialogue was repeated over and over and it got to the point where I started to skim, which I absolutely hate admitting. I just got so disconnected and felt like I already read the conversations several times and wanted to just move on to the next scene.

However, I love the mental health rep in this book. The depression, anxiety, anger, etc. was all wonderful. It gave the characters depth and showed that even the most flawed individuals can find happiness. I love the focus on finding healthy support/relationships and accepting yourself how you are, even if you can’t stand it sometimes. That was really well done!

All in all, this book was good. A solid 3 stars. It’s not my favorite of Rae Knight’s books, but it’s still a good read!
