Summary & Review

This book takes place 4 years after the ending of book 1. I wasn’t a huge fan of this because I felt completely disconnected from the story for the entire first half. There were new characters and so much time that had passed, it felt more like being thrown into a new story than a continuation of a series.

That said, I did eventually get into the story. I kept pushing through because I really enjoyed Metal Slinger, up until the ending, and I was hoping this one would be similarly enjoyable.

However, I really feel like the plot took a hit in this book. It honestly feels like the 2 main characters are just longing for each other, but still pissed at each other, and that’s it. The rest of the plot is kinda just happening in the background and doesn’t feel like it matters as much.

Overall, the writing was still well done, and we got a tiny bit of Messer, though not nearly enough. He was my favorite character in the first book. Well, an Beau, who we also barely see in this book. But we do get Fredrich, who I similarly enjoy. So at least we still have some fun side characters.

The story wasn’t bad. It was a solid 3 stars for me. It just felt like a totally different story than Metal Slinger and it didn’t hold my interest the same way.

Though this is clearly just a me opinion because this book is very highly rated. šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø So definitely worth a read!
