Summary & Review

Jiah Rai was a mess after the death of her girlfriend, Georgia. Not only had she been there when Georgia fell from Wailing Cliff, but the entire town suspected her of pushing Georgia. It wasn’t a far stretch when Jiah was related to one of the country’s worst serial killers. Her uncle, Bill Harkins, had murdered five women up and down the New York coast. The town just assumed she was following in his footsteps.

A few years after the death of his sister, Georgia’s brother, Clark, leaves a cruel and harassing threat at Jiah’s doorstep. This sends her over the edge, and she decides to take matters into her own hands. She leans on the only friend she has, Estrella. However, one night, Estrella fails to show up to a dinner party she had asked Jiah to attend, and she’s not answering Jiah’s messages.

As she goes to leave, Jiah receives a series of messages leading her to the beach below, leading her right into the discovery of a body. A body that just happens to be displayed exactly how her uncle displayed his victims years earlier. The killer knows too much about Jiah and the secrets she holds. Jiah needs to find out who it is and what they’re planning next before someone else gets hurt. After all, she’s in love with a girl named Kennedy she needs to protect, as well as her sister, Lila, and her niece, Dinah.

I picked up this book as a part of the Camp NetGalley badge event. It was the one that sounded most interesting to me, and I’m really glad I picked it up! This is one that I’ll be adding to my physical library when it gets published because I enjoyed it that much. I really enjoyed the way Prabhu gave life to the characters in this story. It really made some of the twists more shocking, especially near the end!

Kennedy was one of my favorites in the story. She stuck by Jiah even at the times she may not have deserved it. I felt bad for Lila. She had a lot going on and not enough of a backbone to take care of the things she should have. Estrella was a wildcard and possibly my favorite of the whole story. You’ll see why 😉 David and Clark and Frank and Barry and…. well, basically all of the men in the story were assholes. This town really needs to either get some decent men or just get rid of them altogether. Oh wait….

This was an excellent story, and I really enjoyed it! The twists, the turns, the revenge. It was a very satisfying read!
