Summary & Review

Ugh, Karin Winter, you’re such a badass writer. I LOVED Ruthless Protector (5 star) and then also loved Ruthless Lies (4 star), but FUCK. This book was another 5 star and I cannot rave enough. 😍

I both love and hate that this ended with such a cliffhanger. I mean, the writing is phenomenal and emotional, but damn…the way Winter did it kills me. She crafts emotions in such a beautiful way. They’re all so raw and strong and beautiful and well done. I love it. 🖤

So in past reviews, I raved about Karin Winter’s amazing writing and her fantastic story plots. I’m happy to say that this newest book is continuing to meet those same expectations and I’m in love. This whole series has been quite the rollercoaster and I hate that I have to wait for the next book to come out!

Soooooo…..if you would like an overview of what happened in the past 2 books, here we go!

**Slight spoilers for the first 2 books are listed below**

So, in book 1, Ruthless Protector, we meet Sorine (AKA Khaos) and Zane (AKA Hawkeye), who are both survivors of traumatic and difficult backgrounds. They slowly become uneasy professional rivals. Book 1 ends with Zane learning Khaos’s true identity.

This leads to book 2, where Zane doesn’t trust Sorine and they’re trying to figure out how to continue working together while also fighting their growing attraction. In the end, Zane sacrifices his life to save hers because he loves her.

In this third book, we get a little more information about Sorine and Zane and we get to see how they’re attempting to work together despite their differences. Sorine officially joins Zane’s team, where she’s trying to earn the trust of her new teammates, while also navigating the professional boundaries of her and Zane’s relationship. They plan to work together to take down Atlas.

I will say that while this entire book was a 5 star read for me since I got to learn so much more about the characters and situations, it also left me with the wildest twists that I was NOT READY FOR. The last couple sentences of this book? FUCKING DAMN. How can we possibly recover from this? And the way things ended with Zane and Sorine? Whew. I was emotionally damaged by all that and waiting for book 4 will be a real struggle!
