Review
Absolutely phenomenal!! In a YA Horror that rivals Fear Street, Crowley tells us the story of Sundae Valentine, a little girl who makes a deal with a monster in a motel pool. The book goes back and forth between Sundae’s childhood and making the wish, and present day when Sundae is back in Wildwood, facing her nightmares.
I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of this story! The banter between Edison and Dallas was fantastic and reminded me a lot of Zack and Brian from Gilmore Girls. The storyline between Lia and Sundae was absolutely beautiful. And the friendship between Sundae and Neeli is one every girl should get to experience. There are thrills, there is justice (in a few ways), there is love, and there is friendship. There are also monsters that might have you checking twice when you get into a pool! This story will make you reconsider all those times you wished you had your own personal genie as a kid.
Netflix (or someone) needs to pick this up and make it into a show or movie! I typically prefer to keep my books as books because the book is always better, but this would look amazing on the screen!
I finished this book 17 days ago, and I am still thinking about it! From the beautiful cover to the wonderful plot and the creepy monsters, it’s everything you need in a summer slasher! Someone please make this into a movie!!
