Nocticadia, by Keri Lake
Nocticadia is an interesting story, which are the only stories Keri Lake creates. She has such a way with words that she can masterfully create the most beautiful worlds and the most lovably flawed characters. It really is a wonderful talent and I’ll forever be a fan. 🖤 This story follows Lillia, whose sick mother…

Blood & Steel (Book 1), by Helen Scheuerer
So this is a super hyped up romantasy series about warriors fighting to protect the land against monsters. This story focuses a lot on Althea “Thea” Zoltaire, who suffers the heavy burden of having a fate stone that predicts she’ll die at 27. Her only true goal in life is to be a Warsword and…

City of Gods and Monsters (Book 1), by Kayla Edwards
Book Stats Book Rating Overall: ⭐⭐⭐/5 Spice: 🌶️🌶️/5 Summary & Review I didn’t totally love this. I didn’t hate it, but I definitely didn’t love it. I’ve seen it posted on social media so many times that I had super high hopes. Firstly, why was Loren so annoyingly helpless all the time? I get that…

The Wicked and the Damned (Book 2), by Rebecca Robinson
Book Stats Book Rating Overall: ⭐⭐⭐/ 5 Spice: 🌶️🌶️/ 5 Summary & Review Well. I loved book 1, The Serpent and The Wolf. But unfortunately, I didn’t love this one. I mean…it was okay? It’s still highly rated, so maybe I was the odd one out? I’m not sure. But this one really fell flat…

Warden of the Dark: The Wrath of Ira, by A.D. Lewis
Book Stats Book Rating Overall: ⭐⭐⭐ / 5 Spice: None Summary & Review Well this one I had the pleasure of reading while trying out OnlineBookClub.org (review of my experience here). I don’t usually pick such short books because I love having a ton of world building and character development, which is often difficult with…

Starling House, by Alix E. Harrow
For our book club, we settled on a fantasy book this time. Starling House follows Opal and Arthur’s story. Opal is a poor, orphaned woman with crooked teeth (I know because this was mentioned 10 bazillion times). She is trying to provide for her 16-year-old brother and save enough money to get him out of…

The Crucifix Killer (Book 1), by Chris Carter
Book Stats Book Rating Overall: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ / 5 Spice: 🌶️/ 5 Summary & Review My mother recently got into Chris Carter books and owns the first 10 of his Robert Hunter series. After she’s raved about them for a while, I decided it was time to give it a try. And I’m so glad I…

The Serpent and the Wolf, by Rebecca Robinson
Book Stats Book Rating Overall: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/ 5 Spice: 🌶️🌶️/ 5 Summary & Review I can’t believe I waited so long to read this book. I purchased it back in November 2025, after constantly seeing it pop up on social media. However, I kept putting it off because I had so many other romantasies I had…

The God of the Woods, by Liz Moore
I read this one because of Ronni. She listened to it and loved it, so I put a hold on Libby but was expected to wait for several more months (I was 191st in line even after several months of waiting). So, she decided to gift me the book! If she decides to also review…

The Good Lie, by A.R. Torre
We went back to our beloved thriller genre for this next joint review. This story starts right away when Scott, a teenage boy who had been missing for weeks, suddenly returns home all battered, but alive. He was assumed to have been taken by the Bloody Heart Killer, a serial killer who had already claimed…
