Summary & Review

I cannot believe I waited so long to read this book. I mean, yeah, it came out less than a year ago, but I kept seeing people rave about it. So when the audiobook version became available on NetGalley, I figured it was a sign to give it a try. Then seeing the narrators – Savannah Thomas and Aiden Snow? I was SOLD. I hadn’t gotten to experience much of Aiden Snow before but am familiar with his name. And Savannah Thomas? I LOVE her work. What a talented narrator. I will always request anything she narrates.

I’m happy to say that the narration was exactly what I expected. I love the way Savannah Thomas tells a story. I did enjoy Aiden Snow’s parts as well, but he only narrated a few chapters and since this wasn’t a duet, he didn’t voice the male characters in the other chapters. So basically, his part was short but sweet. Perfect voice for Smyth, though, in my opinion. And though Ms. Thomas had to voice male characters as well, she still did a wonderful job bringing this story to life.

Now for the story – where to begin? It was SO GOOD. One of the few five star reads I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing so far this year. I loved everything about the story – the intriguing plot, the intense and interesting characters, the YEARNING. Ugh, that’s my favorite ever – yearning and longing that just won’t quit. Seriously, so well done. 😍

I cannot WAIT for the second book in the series – in any format! I’ll happily read the ebook if that’s available before the audio version. But I will 100% be requesting/ purchasing the audiobook so I can hear these talented narrators again.

I do have some questions that I hope get answered in book 2, once some of the characters are re-introduced into the story. Such as (not a spoiler – this is brought up at the beginning of the book) why Elowen let Ary starve for “her figure” and just left her alone for 8 weeks. This wasn’t really addressed in the book and I need to know if there was a reason behind this behavior or if Elowen is just a POS.
