Summary & Review
That title drew me in the moment I read it. I was SOLD. I love funny and weird book titles, and this one fit the bill perfectly. š
So, this story was actually broken down into several small stories, each one unique and fun. The writing was comical. Not necessarily in a laugh out loud way, but more in a subtle chuckle-to-myself way. And yes, there’s a difference. The humor in this was more lighthearted. It was a wonderful palate cleanser type of story and I’m excited that there are 7 more books in the series I can listen to!
This story includes humor, unique characters, paranormal creatures, magic, and general mayhem. There’s a group of friends that continues to grow and always ends up in some sort of troublesome situation. It’s just a good time. Honestly, this would be the PERFECT book to listen to after reading something with heavy topics. It would just cheer you right up. š
Oh, and the narration was wonderful! I’d never heard Kirby Heyborne before, but he does a fantastic job voicing multiple characters with various accents and degrees of roughness. He also gives the perfect voice for Fred, who’s just this nerdy accountant who speaks so literally and almost robotic. I will mention that Heyborne is the only narrator for this book, so he does voice the female portions as well.
All in all, this was a wonderful experience. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone and everyone, but especially those who love humor and magic. š¤
