Summary & Review

I was so excited to jump into this book after having just finished book 1, Silver Elite. What a fantastic book, for real. Dani Francis, you are a talented writer, and I appreciate this entire world you created for us, full of phenomenal characters!

I loved that this book picked up right away, from where book 1 left off. I don’t love when books suddenly skip ahead several months/years, so I loved that this one was just a continuation.

Cross is in a precarious situation, since his brothers no longer trust him and his father is no longer in charge of the Command. It’s now Travis, Cross’s older brother. And until he proves his loyalty again, and that he had nothing to do with Wren’s escape, he’s no longer a trusted member of the Command.

Wren, similarly, is now with the Uprising and not all of them trust her. In fact, most don’t. Especially since she showed up with a Command deserter, Xavier. Who is a book boyfriend for sure. 🥵 What a chaotic mess that man is and I’m so glad we have more of him in this book!

Also, we get to meet Mako, who is delightful, and definitely funny book boyfriend material. We like him. 😉

Oh and Kaine! Who is actually Grayson, the super talented Uprising pilot. I love him and I’m so glad he didn’t actually die in book 1!! He’s another book boyfriend. Probably the best one, honestly.

I have several book boyfriends in this book. Dani Francis writes extremely entertaining and humorous men. She has a way of creating the most alluring, though flawed, boys/men. And I love them all. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Unfortunately, since Cross and Wren aren’t in that forced proximity situation, we don’t get all their lovely banter. I was initially disappointed because I truly loved that in book 1. But between Xavier, Gray, and Mako, we still get plenty of fun banter-y conversations and I adored it all. 😍

So in this book, there are some new characters we have to learn and that was a bit tough for me at first since there were so many. But this got easier and I quickly found myself enjoying most of them, so that was pretty cool. I love that many of the characters will continue on in future books.

This story has so much – betrayal, deaths, heartbreak, love, and so much more. There are a lot of deep and interesting situations and I kind of love how things played out.

In true Dani Francis fashion, we end with quite the cliffhanger. I can’t wait for book 3 so I can continue on this journey!
