Summary & Review

Okay, this one was FUN. I was pulled in immediately and enjoyed every minute of it.

This is considered a horror/dark Rom-Com type of book. It’s unique, cheesy, and entertaining. There are several tropes, such as – Second Chance, Fake Dating, Revenge, He Falls First, Hollywood/Celebrity, etc.

We have our main characters, Evie and Sebastian. Evie’s mom, Lita, and Sebastian work together as actors on a film. Evie and Sebastian are best friends who have become romantically involved, but once they discover the gruesome death of Lita, they’re forced to split ways. Evie is sent to live with family in another state and they cut contact with each other.

5 years later, Evie is back to continue her mother’s legacy and to get revenge on the people who hurt her. But Sebastian is there and while he’s not part of the plan, he gets involved because he refuses to let her go again.

This book is definitely a popcorn thriller. It’s a blast to read, but there aren’t any overly complex or unique twists, so keep that in mind if that’s the type of book you’re into. But it was fun and cute! We get to see Evie and Sebastian navigate their new relationship and learn what happened in the past when they cut contact with each other. We also get to see how Evie goes about getting her revenge and all the things that can (and do) go wrong. Hollywood is a dark place full of liars and cheats, which is a common theme throughout this book. Everyone wants to do whatever it takes to get ahead.

I will say that Sebastian’s character drove me a little crazy at times. It kind of felt like he never really grew up and he could be super immature. But I did love his possessive/obsessive traits that refused to let Evie disappear from his life again.

All in all, this was incredibly enjoyable and I’m excited to see what other works this author has done/will have in the future!
