Stolen Tongues, by Felix Blackwell
Since our book club thoroughly enjoyed The Sorrowstones, we decided to try out another book by Felix Blackwell – Stolen Tongues! Another unique horror story with interesting characters and a chaotic plot. Book Stats Shayna’s Review Book Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐/ 5 I think I loved this book more than The Sorrowstones, up until the end. I…

Starling House, by Alix E. Harrow
For our book club, we settled on a fantasy book this time. Starling House follows Opal and Arthur’s story. Opal is a poor, orphaned woman with crooked teeth (I know because this was mentioned 10 bazillion times). She is trying to provide for her 16-year-old brother and save enough money to get him out of…

Tropesick, by Lauren Okie
Book Stats Book Rating Overall: ⭐⭐⭐/ 5 Spice: 🌶️🌶️/ 5 Summary & Review The premise of this book is cute AF. A RomCom about common RomCom tropes? Yes, please! What Could Go Wrong? by Jessica Fowler
Book Stats Book Rating Overall: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ / 5 Spice: 🌶️🌶️/ 5 Summary & Review This story was a cute little romcom with a strong miscommunication trope. If the two main characters just opened up and talked about what was going on, this story probably would’ve only been 50 pages. Granted, that’s not fun and us…

The Good Lie, by A.R. Torre
We went back to our beloved thriller genre for this next joint review. This story starts right away when Scott, a teenage boy who had been missing for weeks, suddenly returns home all battered, but alive. He was assumed to have been taken by the Bloody Heart Killer, a serial killer who had already claimed…

The Lost Coast, by Daniel Robinson
Book Stats Book Rating Overall: ⭐⭐⭐ / 5 Spice: 🌶️/ 5 Summary & Review The Lost Coast, by Daniel Robinson, starts off strong with a violent massacre. Immediately, we’re transported into a story where white settlers decide they need to kill 250 Wiyot tribe members, sparing no one, not even women or children. It was…

The Sorrowstones, by Felix Blackwell
We decided to try something new in our book club and chose something from the horror genre, rather than a thriller or fantasy. The Sorrowstones, by Felix Blackwell. This story follows Cole Graves, who starts receiving little statues/ figurines throughout the years from an unknown person. He quickly learns that these little statues have extraordinary…

The Book of Doors, by Gareth Brown
For our next joint review, we decided to step away from thrillers to throw ourselves into a fantasy. The Book of Doors is a story full of magic, emotional moments (both sweet and sad), and powerful friendships. Gareth Brown created a world where Cassie inherits a book from her one of her regular cafe customers…

Attachments, by Rainbow Rowell
Book Stats Book Rating Overall: ⭐⭐⭐ / 5 Spice: No spice Summary & Review This was my first book by Rainbow Rowell, but I kept seeing her name pop up as a well-known romance author with popular books. I can see why her books are so popular, if they’re anything like this one. The story…
